The U.S. Department of Homeland Security is providing grants to help two Trumbull County fire departments update their resources.

Federal Emergency Management Agency Assistance to Firefighters Grants have been awarded to the Bazetta Fire Department and the  Eagle Joint Fire District in Hubbard.

According to the office of U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown, Bazetta is receiving $181,413 for safety and department operations.

The Eagle Joint Fire District was awarded $128,970 to acquire a new vehicle.

The AFG program helps firefighters and other first responders improve their ability to protect the public and themselves. Projects funded in the Operations and Safety category include training, facility upgrades and modifications, and supplies such as protective equipment.

Fire equipment funded in the vehicle acquisition category includes pumpers, aerials, brush trucks, tankers/tenders, rescue vehicles, and ambulances.
